3 gesture drawings

I like these three the best because they show the lines going through the figure, also there are thinker darker limes in places where there is more stress on the body. All of the figure is shown in these drawings and there are directional lines in the head showing where they are facing.

Hendrick Drescher

I like this piece because Hendrick uses different animals intertwined to create this figure. I also like the different colors and techniques of drawing he uses. I like how you can see the short staggered brush strokes that make the painting feel like it has texture. I also like how he placed the objects on the page it really creates good movement when your eyes flow on the page.

I like this piece because the artist is using the human body and using very unrealistic proportions and weird body position. It almost reminds me of a game of twister. Also this is a very unusual and edgy price that makes you wonder what is going on but at the same time makes you uncomfortable and weirded out.

Cumulative Drawing

I used lines to show this shape is round by following the little groves in the bone with my finger to feel where the bone dips and bumps. I then drew my lines according to how the bone was shaped making them curved and and straight. Next I smudged some lines to make it have shape and show how the light was hitting the bone. I think my drawing is creative and unique because I used a lot of layers to show the bone goes back in space. Also I used a mixture of different tools including charcoal, paint, and white charcoal. I'm very proud of my modeled lines in the front of the bone and how the end of the bone disappears in the background but the shape is still visible. Also I enjoyed making the background look like it has texture. Is very happy with how this life came out.

Critique

I really like this because the visual hierarchy of the girl being up on the page suggests that the girl is back in space standing on this rock or mountain. I really like the way this piece flows and how the artist used color to make the shapes on the page instead of black and white. Also I enjoy how the artist mixed those colors to make a marble effect. The negative space is used well and really draws our attention to the girl. It's really expressive in the way the body figure is standing and positioned. Overall I really enjoyed everything about this artwork.

Building with Ellipses

I used the charcoal stick to create this drawing and smudged it with my fingers and a paper towel and added some water using a pain brush. I think that this drawing is creative and different than all the others because it has texture and you can see some brush marks. It also has a different value or darks and lights.

Building with ellipses

I used charcoal pencil to create this drawing and I used my fingers to smudge the charcoal to make this figure look 3D. I think this is creative and different from anything else because it is very dark and black.

Single Line Portrait

I creatively used two different pieces of paper by using the longer horizontal one for my legs  because I was sitting down and I used the taller, vertical one for my upper body and head because Im taller. Although you can not see my shoulders or some of my arm in this drawing i think that is creative as well by leaving some parts of my body out. I tried my hardest to use the continuous line drawing technique although i was not successful I think I have gotten better at it. It was hard for me to not want to pick up my pencil because I like sketching rather than using bold straight lines and it was a force of habit  to pick up my pencil and move to a different spot when I got bored. If I were to do this drawing again I would try harder to use the technique of the continuous line and I also would try looking at myself in a mirro instead of the ipad. I would also try sitting in a different position to make it a little more challenging for myself.

Folded paper drawing

I used my pencil to shade certain areas of the drawing to make it look 3D. I also used light and dark values to show the shadow underneath the paper airplane to make the object appear like it is sitting on a table or surface and not just floating in the air. I think my drawing shows understanding of composition because it isn't directly in the middle of the page because that would be boring, and I also drew it at a diagonal from top left to bottom right, the way our eyes would read a page on a book. I think that my drawing shows a little bit of my personal drawing style because I like drawing big and I like drawing soft and neatly.
